Helping Children and Families Inspires Us
A significant part of our caring community in Vancouver is the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
Helping children and families in need
Opened in 1995, Canuck Place provides special care for children who are terminally ill and their parents. Thousands of children and their families over the years have received “medical respite, pain and symptom management, art, music, and recreation therapy, end-of-life care, and grief, loss, and bereavement counselling.” Today, over 715 children are currently in their care.
As part of its fundraising efforts, this internationally recognized centre of care stages the Canuck Place Adventure Race which was sponsored by Kerr Construction this year. For adults, the race consists of a 15km mountain bike ride, 6km run with an obstacle course finish. There is also the Kids’ Challenge which includes a 3km bike ride, 2km run, with a fun obstacle course finish!
This year’s Race was held on Sunday, September 16, starting at Jericho Beach Park East.
