Most single-family lots in RS-1 and RS-5 zones qualify for a laneway home. Key requirements include:
Lot width of 33′ or wider with lane access Maximum unit size of 750 sq ft (based on lot size) Minimum 16′ separation between laneway home and main house One on-site parking space required Rental or family use only — no strata titling 1 and 1½ storey configurations permitted
