Client Stories from Homeowners Across Greater Vancouver

Real experiences from clients who trusted Kerr Design Build for custom homes, renovations, and design-build projects across Vancouver, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, and beyond.

We recently had a number of projects completed by Kerr Design Build including a new roof for our shed and a new concrete pad for our heat pump. The work was done mostly by Eric and supervised by Eric. The work was great and the two Erics were a pleasure to deal with. We have hired Kerr before and will do so again.

Chuck Willms

We had a fantastic reno experience with Kerr Design Build. Ale, Nisha, and Ximena were tremendous resources during planning and design. They helped us make choices that align perfectly with our aesthetic and how we use the space. Max and his team were wonderful during the actual work of renovation.

They were professional and courteous with us and our neighbours. They did high-quality work, made great recommendations along the way, and were an all-around pleasure to work with. We are so happy with how the reno turned out. Everything from finishes to special touches looks beautiful! Huge thanks to Kerr Design Build for a job exceedingly well done!

Kirstin Appelt

We hired Kerr Design Build last year to do a major redesign, gut, and rebuild of our upper floor – entire bathroom reno, going from two bedrooms to three, and a new window carved out of the wall. In other words, a big project.
We could not be more pleased with the process and outcome.

The integration of design and build meant that the project was seamless, communication was excellent, and in the end what we got was what envisioned, plus more.
Spencer and Evan, on-site worked so hard to make sure that we were happy as the project moved along, and even managed to accommodate our family using the washer/dryer upstairs throughout – I thought I was going to have to hit the laundromat for weeks, but they made it work. The whole team was above and beyond, in all aspects, with the exception of the budget and timeline. Those were neither above or beyond – they were right on.
I am glad we put our trust in Kerr Design Build.

We had Kerr Design Build work on our home in 2024. We were extremely happy with the work that was completed. In particular we would like to thank our site manager Goncalo. Goncalo was always on time and at our home making sure the trades were there, he kept us up to date on the progress and any problems.

He had some wonderful ideas to save us money and time. He also didn’t seem to mind when we would text or phone him on weekends! He is a wonderful guy to deal with and we highly recommend him. Thank you for all your hard work on our home.

We recently had a kitchen renovation done by Kerr Design Build and we are absolutely thrilled with the results! The designer , Nisha, was fantastic throughout the process and offered excellent suggestions that really elevated the space. The work crews were incredibly talented, and their attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the project.

A special shout-out to the site manager, Max, who was absolutely terrific throughout the entire process and to Mark, the project manager who was very responsive and easy to deal with. Highly recommend this company for anyone looking to renovate their space!

Bernadette Perry

Kerr Design Build recently completed a large project that involved constructing a basement suite and some changes to the interior of the rest of the house. Requirements of the City of Vancouver resulted in a lot of extra work that extended to the entire property. Coordinating all of this would have been impossible without the expertise of the Kerr team. The company is customer focussed. From the initial contact with Elton, through the design process with Leo and the construction phases, everyone from the company inspired confidence and was very pleasant to work with.

Communication was clear, and we were kept informed and asked about our wishes and satisfaction every step of the way. The site supervisor, Eric, was amazing. He somehow coordinated all the trades, was always upbeat and gave us some excellent suggestions throughout the work. He was very responsive, always available to confer about anything. No request was deemed silly or impossible. I can’t overstate his importance to the success of this project. The company is expensive, but they do provide expertise and quality work.

Marla Barichello

We’ve hired Kerr Design Build twice – for some initial renovations before moving into our newly purchased home and then again for a full kitchen and single bathroom makeover. I’ve also found them very helpful and responsive to follow-up questions. All work was done to high standards, to expected schedule, and we have been very pleased with the results. I would gladly hire them again in the future!

Paul Hibbitts

We have had a very good experience working with Kerr Design Build! Absolutely recommended! Communication, reliability and execution were top! Above average.

Daniela

Kerr Design Build built a side-by-side duplex and an infill house on my property. Their work is impeccable and I am thrilled with the final product. I would not hesitate to recommend Kerr to potential clients.

Instrumental in this build were Kerr employees, Evan and Vincent. The craftsmanship, work ethic, and attention to detail were second to none. They answered all my annoying questions with good humour and ensured that I understood whatever it was that I was unclear about.

Denise Carefoot

We did our condo renovation with Kerr Design Build about 2 years ago and had a really great experience. We recently has some small repairs that were covered under our warranty and Evan was the person who helped us. He was a great communicator, excellent at connecting all the people who needed to be involved and was even super nice to our dog when he had to come by to do some work. We’ve had such a positive experience with Kerr Design Build and everyone who works on their team.

Natasha P.

We have worked with the Kerr Design Build team and head designer, Nisha MacNeil for over a year. The Kerr Design team helped us pick furniture and accessories for our 3,300 square foot home. Kerr took into account our tastes and our traditional home and helped us make the right choices and avoid costly mistakes.

We also wanted to build a bench seat in our kitchen. We could not find anyone who wanted to do such a small job and were fortunate that Kerr was also able to provide us with the trades to do the job.

Our collaboration with the Kerr design team has resulted in a beautiful home that we enjoy with family and friends.

Anita V.

I approached Elton Donald with an initial design of an update to the first floor of my home; kitchen/dining/open living room and powder room. The Kerr team of Elton, Dave & Mark, had designed, removed, and added a new deck to my home, 4 years prior, so I had complete confidence in approaching them for my renovation.

Nisha, our designer, took my initial concept, and worked with me to develop the detailed design, source subtrades, and keep to the budget. The 3D renderings were a great addition to the visualization of the project!

Mark, so “graciously” confirmed he would work with me again, and with his site manager, Nelson!

As I continued to live & work in the home, great care was taken to seal & protect the balance of the home.

I can not say enough on the quality of work , and ensuring high standards were met by all the subtrades. When there was an issue, or problem, the Kerr team immediately worked with me to resolve to my satisfaction.

Nelson did an excellent job in keeping the project running smoothly, and was responsive and proactive to all my questions.

His communication was excellent in keeping me informed daily of all trades coming and going …..even while on holidays!!!

Thank you Mark and Nelson, for your care and personal attention, to making my renovation a huge success!!

KERR DESIGN BUILD …… a definite 5 Star recommendation from me!!!

Antoinette S.

Imagine an unexpected and certainly unwanted ” water ” issue that threatens the very foundation of your old but beloved home! It is a homeowners nightmare and became my nightmare!! In this ” crisis” of sorts – I enlisted Kerr Design Build to diagnose the problem and correct it.

They did a superb professional job ! But, in the process, my basement was completely gutted down to bare earth. The Kerr Design Team headed by their senior designer Nisha re-imagined, designed and transformed my empty sad basement into a beautiful, functional and comfortable space!

It was such a wonderful upgrade to my old basement ! I am so happy with this vastly improved ” addition ” to my home ! ..and, as they say ” happiness is priceless”!!
Thank you!!

Virginia G.

We first met with Elton and Steven to discuss plans for the renovation of our whole main floor, plus upstairs master bedroom, ensuite and third bathroom. There was much back-and-forth discussions of layout options, with Steven producing many great layouts to work with. His 3D renderings of the various options for layouts, materials and lighting were useful for visualizing the future space. His designs for the kitchen cabinetry, family entertainment wall, bedroom built-ins and hallway display cabinetry were beautiful.

Kerr’s Design team assisted us immensely with selecting all materials, lighting, fixtures etc., providing invaluable assistance to achieve the look we wanted.

Construction began and went very well.  Nelson, the site manager, kept us updated on a daily basis. We were made aware of issues that arose (as to be expected), and we had input into their resolution. Nelson was very helpful and accommodating to our needs.

Nisha’s design eye was invaluable to the interior design.  She put together a couple of different design options, all to achieve our desired modern look, while merging in some of our antique furnishings. Her ideas were fantastic and she was extremely helpful in selecting the new furnishings and accessories.

We would definitely recommend Kerr Design Build to anyone considering a renovation. They handled our project in a professional manner.
