Kerr Construction Supports 2019 Drug Free Dash
As in 2018, Kerr Construction & Design is a silver sponsor of this year’s Drug Free Dash in support of KidSport Delta and the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Coast BC.
The purpose of the run is to ” to support community programs for KidSport and The Boys & Girls Club, who provide the means for organized sports and after school activities to help promote an active, healthy lifestyle which helps keep youth focused and active. Proceeds will also benefit drug education materials for youth groups, law enforcement and educators – Informed Youth are Drug Free Youth.”
$2,000 raised for groups
The 5K run, 5K walk and 10K run was held September 8 at the beautiful Centennial Beach Boundary Bay Regional Park in Delta. Over 70 people participated in the run/walk and raised $2,000 in total for KidSport and the Boys and Girls Clubs. Race results can be found here.
Variety of participants
Students from the John Volken Academy came out to run and volunteer for the race. The Academy is a local treatment centre for drug addiction which has the motto “to turn takers into givers.” The students were youth aged 17 – 25 doing the Academy’s two-year program.
The youngest runners were 4 and 7 years old in the 5K!
“Important work”
Kerr Construction had a booth at the event.
“Drugs are such a scourge in Vancouver,” says Doug Kerr, company founder. “We are very happy when we can participate and help do something about this horrendous problem.
“We look forward to do it again next year.”
