Caring For the Client Means Thinking About the Small Things Too
One of the things that make Kerr Construction & Design one of the most trusted and popular builders and renovators in the Lower Mainland is our ability to add value to a client’s project.
Think about even the small things
This means that we continually think about ways to improve even the smallest details in a build or renovation, so the client’s needs are better served in the long run.
An example of this is shown in the accompanying video with Doug Kerr, our founder. He is showing off a small improvement in a client’s kitchen and living room that was thought of by the site supervisor of the build. Doug thought it was brilliant. It shows how much our people care about their work and its quality.
One little change for the better
This particular project is a laneway house in the west end of Vancouver that the homeowner wants to use as a rental property for Airbnb. Because of the intense use that the property will probably be subject to, Nick Alexander, the onsite supervisor who is overseeing the project, suggested taking left-over pieces of the kitchen countertop and using them to cover the windows sills in both the kitchen and living area. As Doug points out, the sills are usually just left as drywall or possibly covered with wood trim which would get easily scratched or damaged over time. Using the pieces of countertop would not only provide a long-lasting damage-resistant surface to these areas but also add further matching design elements into those rooms. A win-win.
All in all, a thoughtful touch and improvement to the house by an alert and caring craftsman. A simple, small detail improved so that some grief may be prevented for the homeowner years down the road.
